This page covers three things: how the price ranges on this site get built, how the contractor referral links pay for the site, and what happens after someone tells us a number is wrong.

How the pricing model gets built

The ranges in the calculator and the guides come from remediation-industry pricing surveys and cost data that's public, not from a single contractor's rate sheet or anything a partner asked us to publish. Square footage, whether the mold has reached porous material like drywall or framing, and whether testing is part of the scope each move the number independently, and the guides walk through why in the same place the claim gets made. No remediation company, franchise, or testing lab pays for better treatment in these pages, and none is named as a recommended vendor.

Why there are quote links on this site

A handful of pages connect you with local remediation contractors, and this site earns a fee from the contractor network when one of those connections turns into hired work. That fee comes out of the network's marketing budget, not your wallet, and it has no bearing on which contractor gets matched to your ZIP code or what your final bid ends up being. If a page recommends getting a second opinion before signing with anyone, including a company that also runs the testing, that's a standing piece of advice, not a sales pitch.

Keeping the figures current

Each page carries a date showing when it was last checked. That date moves when a figure actually changes, not on a schedule just to look fresh. The calculator's multipliers and the reference tables get a real review every few months, sooner if a reader flags something that looks stale or wrong.

Who writes this, and who does not

Jessica Martinez researches and writes the calculator copy, the cost guides, and the FAQ content on this site. She is not a certified mold inspector or remediation contractor, and nothing she writes should be read as a substitute for a licensed professional assessing your actual home. I'm Chris Terry, and I own this site; I set the rules on this page, decide how a reported error gets corrected, and stay out of the byline because I don't do the research or the writing. Corrections

If a figure looks stale, a year is wrong, or a claim doesn't hold up against its source, the contact page is the fastest way to reach us. We check a flagged number against where it originally came from before changing anything, and when a correction changes a cost figure in a meaningful way, the page's updated date moves and we say what changed rather than quietly editing it away.
